Happy Mother’s Day – Congrats to our Winner Maxine – $25 Giveaway

Hello Richly Middle Class family and Friends,

I cannot believe that six years ago I was lucky enough to join this elite group of women.  And the burning questions?  Who is the elite club?  The elite club that I speak of is MOTHERHOOD.  I became a mother to the most wonderful little person in the world.  I will not bore you with dates, but on my special day, I gave birth to a 5lbs 9oz perfect baby.   I did not know how my life would change, sure I knew the little things that would change, like no more happy hours and I would never sleep to noon again, EVER, but those for the sacrifices that you make for something greater.

What I was not prepared for, was the love that I would feel for this little person.  I was not prepared for the joy that I would feel even when changing those diapers that you could not get in the Genie fast enough.   I was not prepared for how much joy I would get having someone spit food in my face.  I was not prepared for how much I would not mind being embarrassed in public with temper tantrums.  I was not prepared for how much I would not mind sacrifices so that she could have the best in life.

As women we like, love, and cherish all of our lives.  I guess, in some respects, we are raised and bred that way.  We are taught to be strong, to defend, to conquer and above all, be a lady when we are doing it.  But there is nothing and I have to repeat that word, NOTHING, as special as a bond between a mother and a child.

Over the past six years, I have gotten some great gifts from my child.

Year  One:   A Coach Bag (daddy was shopping from a list)

Year  Two:   Nike Sneakers  (daddy still shopping, – must of still had the baby fat and those shoes were a hint)

Year  Three:  A rhinestone cat collar (Mommy bracelet bracelet)

Year  Four:   A Tinkerbell plate, bowl and cup (she wanted to make sure we matched)

Year  Five:    A Box of Godiva chocolate (She said she was going to eat the chocolates and let me BORROW the box)

Year Six:      ???????????????????????????????

To all the mothers, the grandmothers, the step-mothers, the adoptive mothers, and the friends who were like mothers, I want to say HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

Anyone who knows me well will tell you that I am not a tearful creature.  Most of my days are sunny and that is how I live my life.  Most holidays, I am involved but, Mother’s Day is so special to me.  Mother’s Day symbolizes my greatest joy, my child, my gift of life to our family.  I hope that motherhood has brought you that joy as well.

Someone once told me that our children are Angels and they choose us as parents.  I am so grateful that my child chose me.  She completed everything in me that I thought was missing. As children we have dreams, we play house and family and I think that she and I must have been Mother and Daughter for a long time.  We fit perfectly.  I am so glad that she waited until I was mature enough, wise enough and unselfish enough to give her ‘the me’ she deserves. The day she was born she completed my soul.  I look at her everyday and wonder how did I get so lucky?   And she has the cutest response when I ask her.   “Mommy, you made me. Why do you ask that silly question?”

I have been so fortunate to be loved by the most wonderful women in my world.  They are not famous by most peoples standards, but to me, in my life and world,  they are more famous than the biggest Hollywood star.

My Grandmother Frankie….  She taught me that family should come before everything other than the spiritual beliefs above.

My Grandma Vassie … She taught me that love is not selfish.  It has no pride.  It is deep. It hurts sometimes but it only does that to help you grow.  She taught me how to be humble, to admit when I was wrong, to love when I am scared, and to be a good person.  My grandmother taught me that I don’t have to be first in line or the best at anything to be special. I just have to be ME.  My grandmother was my rock, and my inspiration. I miss her so much.

My mom   A good woman who had to fight for everything she has.  She took the worst odds and turn them into triumph.  She gave me life in more ways than one.  She was young when she made the decision to give me life the first time.  The second time, she gave me opportunity and hope for a future.  She showed me that hard work is the best way to independence.  She taught me that tough love is about growth.  She showed me how to love me for me, respect my decisions, be honest about my intentions, and to work hard. And she helped me understand what type of mother I need to be to my child so she will grow up to be a healthy, happy and well adjusted adult.   She is the ultimate grandmother as well.

Happy Mother’s Day from the Richly Middle Class Family!

Sincerely,

Cynthia

Happy Mother’s Day from RMC to our family

Dear Mom,

I know that I don’t call as often as I should. I don’t live as near as I can. I don’t visit as much as you need.  Please don’t take this as I don’t love you.  You have gifted me  the most important thing LIFE and besides that you have gifted me freedom, understanding, forgiveness, integrity and the ability to love.  Happy Mother’s Day Mommy!

Heather

Thank you for being my rock, my best friend, and some times counselor,  I want to wish you a wonderful Mother’s Day. I hope your day is filled with love and all the seafood you can enjoy.

Robin

Happy Mother’s Day! I hope that you are enjoying your day.  I love the humor and wisdom that you bring to motherhood!

Kate

Being a mother to me means harboring a life, nurturing it, guiding it and setting it free.  This is the greatest gift I have ever been given.  When I found out I was pregnant RIGHT after my honeymoon, to be honest, I was FREAKED out, but life could not have turned out any better. Every day I thank God for my beautiful girls and this mother’s day, I will be honoring them, because they are what make me the mother that I am.

My daughters are the light of my life and without their beautiful spirits and wondrous joy, I would not be half the mom I am. So thank you my beautiful girls, thank you!

To my mom, you read on my special message on the homepage what you mean to me, I love you more than words can describe and everything I am is because of you (and dad).  I am forever grateful to the woman you raised me to be and the woman you are, you are my best friend and I treasure every moment I have with you.  I wish you the most wonderful of all Mother’s Days this year!

To my Nana, you have led our the line of women for a long time and no one could do a better job, you have kept us all together, taught us what it means to be loving yet strong when life is hard, what it means to be a good wife, stand tall, stand by our family, how to take care of our children and ourselves.  You have taught us to love, cherish and treasure every moment, second and person in our lives and I want you to know, I treasure you!  I love you so much!!!

Cece,  You have been my GrandmaCece and much like a second mother to me, Caroline is my sister more than my aunt.  Your part in my life is indescribable and I want you to know that you are loved. You are so important to me, you have taught me so much about life and love.  You and Daddy Bob were always there for me, always loving me, giving me a home away from home, putting up with my shenanigans and creating endless memories!  You are my wonderful Grandmother, always have been, always will be.  I love you, so, to you, Happy GrandmaCece Day!

Barbara, Baba, My Mother-in-Law, – wow, how far have we come? I feel so blessed and thankful to have you in my life!  I look forward to our talks daily and love having you as the grandmother of my children, my friend, ‘my biggest fan’ and my confidant.  I cherish our relationship and am  forever grateful that we are so close now, thank you for all that you do and Happy Mother’s day!!!

To My Sisters – Jen and Vanessa – You are both so unbelievably extraordinary and such incredible women.  We are all such different mothers, yet wonderful all the same.  I love how close we are and that our kids can grow up together. I know we are “in-laws” but you are my sisters and I love you and want you to know that you are two of the best moms I know.

Let’s Here it for the Girls!!!

xoxo,

Kate

Heather

Without you mother, I would not be the person that I am. You have given me the drive and respect to be a good mother, a good wife and a solid team member in my work environment.  Because of your guidance and life experiences, you taught me to love my family and embrace my friends.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Love,

Heather

  • My mother is the women I worked my whole teenage years to be. She is smart, loving and will do anything for me. I remember in 2007 when she went into a diabetic shock and was in the hospital. I couldn’t imagine life without my mom , I was a teenage girl and didn’t know how I was going to take of my brother and father. I spent days rehashing the arguments we had and thinking of all the things we never said to each other. When she came home it was the best thing in the world! She went right back to cooking her delicious meals and helping us with our homework. I can not tell you how many times my mom had gone without new clothes or something she really needed to take care of us. She has taught me the true meaning of sacrifice to make the other people you love truly happy. My future children don’t know how blessed they are because of their grandmothers warmth.

    • Hi Janiera,

It is funny because as a child, we just want to grow up and move on. As an adult, you realize the importance of that mother and child relationship.

  • Mom, without you, there would be no me.
Your love, your attention, your guidance,
have made me who I am.
Without you, I would be lost,
You have gone on to heaven now, I miss You,I wish You
were here so I could tell what you mean to me,
    Without direction or purpose.
    You showed me the way
to serve, to accomplish, to persevere.
Without you, there is an empty space
I can never fill, no matter how I have tried.
    Instead, because of you,
I have joy, contentment, satisfaction and peace.
I know You have gone to a better place and have
peace now. I hope You are with Donald and You are
