First of all, I want to start off by saying, “Hello,” to everyone that has come to the site. It has been a pleasure to read your comments and share your thoughts. We are so excited to be here and with such a wonderful family of supporters.
My name is Cynthia Tolbert-Wilson and I am the founder of Richly Middle Class.
Over the course of the last 6 years, I have been thinking about starting a new career. I have worked in the insurance industry for over 15 years. During that time, I have had various positions from reception, sales, marketing, to claims professional. I loved my career; it could be fun at times. I cannot say there was anything truly horrible about it. I was fortunate to have some of the best employers in the industry. So why did I leave such a wonderful career?
In 2005, I left the insurance industry to raise my beautiful baby girl. I did not feel that I could have a career that required 40 to 50 hours a week (not including a commute of up to 2 hours each way on the days that I did not work from home). I wanted to embrace every moment that I could with her. I did not want to miss a thing. Fortunately for me, I was able to make the decision to spend the quality years with my young child.
Six years, later, I now have time to think about my career aspirations. I have always had a passion for bringing people together, whether it was around my dinner table or just a get together. I love to gather information that will help people grow as well as help me grow with them. As I look at my life, six year post my insurance career, I started to look into employment opportunities that would allow me to do what I love and still have the feeling of people around my table. So, after a lot of research and brainstorming with my other half, I decided that I would create a web site where we can talk about anything and bring that dinner room experience to you, wherever you might be.
My goal is to share the ideas, experiences and thoughts of myself and others. By creating this site, I am hoping to employ others in their own relationships. I currently live in England. Yes, an American living in the United Kingdom. I live in a county which is known as Suffolk. It is a beautiful country side of England and when the sun is shining, the sky will take your breath away. The area which I live has one of the oldest working churches in the United Kingdom. I have been here since June, 2010. I moved here from the Maryland area where I had previously lived for over 9 years. I have a bachelor degree in Business Management and I have been working towards my master degree in Gerontology.I have awesome child who is completing Year One at a local Preparatory school near our home, who has finally worn us down with all her pleading and, “I cannot live without this opportunity,” started acting classes.
In my spare time, I love to cook, hate to clean, taste as many wines as I can and travel. I have been fortunate; I have been afforded the opportunity to live in some wonderful places as a military spouse. I have met some wonderful people during my stay in each city and country. In my life, I never thought that I would live in both Europe and Asia, so I am blessed. Richly Middle Class is a truly rewarding experience for me. It is a job that I never tire of and I cannot wait to go to bed so that I can get up the next day and see what is waiting for me. Each morning when I turn on my computer, I do it with fingers crossed that I will have comments from my Richly Middle Class family and friends. So far, all the responses that I have gotten from our new friends and family, have been wonderful. I look forward to continuing to enhance your life as you help to enhance mine.
