1) Mother & Daughter Letter Book – $38

Mother Daughter Letter Book From Uncommon Goods – Letters
This is an awesome product sold through Uncommon Goods (a must see site, that re-uses products to make other products and sells artist’s work).
Here is what Uncommon Goods has to say:
“After losing her mother to cancer, one woman found comfort and inspiration in the art of letter writing. She wished she had a piece of her mother to hang on to, a keepsake of her life and personality–and realized she wanted her children to have that same inside look into her life. After joining forces with two friends who yearned for the same experience, the Mother and Daughter Letter Book was born.”
- A nostalgic set of 40 cards is meant to be sent, shared and treasured until the very last envelope is sealed.
- Hundreds of personal prompts that encourage you to share facets of your personality that family otherwise wouldn’t see.
- Once completed, cards find their way back into the secret pockets of the book.
- Rich with sentiment, each personalized book is a meaningful way to honor your bond, and be passed down from generation to generation as an heirloom from the heart.
2) Glass Memory Locket – $49

“Keep an open heart and a full locket with this fillable glass pendant made to keep personal tokens close. Wear it traditionally with a special photo or two–its glass panes allow you to show faces on both sides of its translucent frame–or experiment with a collage of mixed photos, materials or small objects. This made-for-life keepsake lets you change up its contents as often as you’d like with inspiring ideas like love notes, quotes, prayers, pebbles, drawings, a lock of hair, sand, sea shells, and more. Magnetic closure. Rhodium-plated mixed metal and glass locket on a sterling silver chain.”

I love the Mother/Daughter idea through Uncommon goods! I am a very sentimental person and often think about years and years down the road. It would be awesome to have tangibility of words spoken (or unspoken) to have and hold. Thank you for the great ideas!
Hey there Leah!
I was just on your site projectrealife.com (which I LOVE!) Thanks for the comment! I totally agree about the Mother/Daughter book from Uncommon Goods, (they have amazing items on their site/in their catalog). I am they same way about sentimentality, I cherish a shell I made, (key word ‘Made’), my husband pick up at the bottom of a lake – in freezing cold water – on our first trip together to the Poconos! I would love this book for my mom and I believe, it is my present for her this year (hope your not reading this madre (c:) Anyways, I’m glad you enjoyed the post, I truly love your site, keep rockin’! xo, Kate
These were great ideas. I always struggle to find something unique for my mother. She is by no means frilly or into crafts. She loves art, but she’s super picky about that too.
I always get, just give me perfume instead and it takes the fun out of getting something for her from the heart. I won’t be asking this year and just do it instead. I think the locket is what I am going with this year. Thanks for the post.
Hey Sonia,
I love, love, love the locket! How cool that it can keep little pieces of a memory locked inside? It sounds like you are like me, wanting to find that “unique, perfect” gift. I seriously sometimes spend days upon days of searching for something so totally different that is EXACTLY right for the person I am giving it to, its an obsession lol! I’m so glad I could be helpful, I love all three of the items I put on the site, I stand by what I said about them, let me know if you go with the locket and what her reaction is! The reaction is the best part isn’t it?
xo,
Kate
